Track 1: Dietary Supplements

Dietary Supplement is intended to provide nutrients that is usually not consumed in daily diet in sufficient quantities. Supplements as generally understood to include vitaminsminerals, fibre, fatty acids, amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, etc among other substances. These products are not intended to prevent or treat any disease but are required to provide the essential nutrition which the body lacks. The intended use of dietary supplements is to ensure that a person doing excessive physical activity must get enough essential nutrients.

Some sports supplements can play an important role in health. For example, calcium and vitamin D are important for strong bones. Pregnant women can take the vitamin folic acid to prevent certain birth defects in their babies.

Track 2: Fitness and Sports Nutrition

We've all heard that "You are what you eat." But this old axiom tells only part of the story. While correct Sports Nutrition is essential to a proper fitness in training program, it's also essential to check HOW you eat. The important points to keep into consideration are meal pulsation, macronutrient and micronutrient ratios, distinction to athletic objectives, and spacing the caloric intake. By keeping these key points in consideration body fitness can be easily achieved. The correct diet will recuperate your energy levels and help your body maintain the Energy balance more effectively. Smart decision making about the quality, quantity and timing of food to eat can help achieve the best levels.

Track 3: Energy Balance & Managing body Composition

Calories cater the energy that the body demands to function. The major nutritional divisions of vitamins, carbohydrate, mineral, fibres, protein and fat can all be used by the body to provide steam required for sporting activity. The traditional high-performance aerobic-endurance diet subsists of 60% to 70% calories in the form of carbohydrates, 10% to 15% as proteins and 15% to 25% to be in the form of fat.

Track 4: Exercise Science and Event Nutrition

From an athletes’ point of view the nutrition is either related to workouts and events, or general nutrition. Nutrition analogous to workouts and events refers to nutrition before, during and after workouts and events. It is about pre-, during- and post-exercise nutrition. It is mostly about food, protein and carbohydrate calories and to some extent about sodium and other micronutrients as well.

Caloric mix, quality, carbohydrate and vitamins, minerals and other nutrients have ponderous role to play in general or overall nutrition.

Track 5: Body building and Protein Nutrition

Protein is not only the basic structural material of all cells but is also biologically active in enzymes, immunoglobulins, neurotransmitters, nutrient transport, hormones, and storage compounds and ECM receptors. Protein is required for muscle makeup and enzymes are vital in catalysing many body processes.

The statistics show that a young adult daily RDA is 56 gms per day for men and 46 gms per day for women. Growth, puberty, pregnancy, lactation and exercise increase the demand for protein and energy in the body. The FNB’s acceptable macronutrient ranges from 10% to 35%.

Track 6: Caloric Diet and Recommendations

You need energy for basal metabolism, the primary ingredient for running your body. Basal metabolism includes beating of your heart, circulation of blood through your kidneys, liver and other organs; stocking your brain with energy, dispensing the rods and cones of your eyes to see, generating salivary and gastrointestinal juices for digestion, and propelling the food through your bowels.

Beyond basal metabolism, you need energy to stock your daily activities, inclusive of exercise. Calorie bestows the energy that body needs to operate. Befitting diet intake is necessary to provide fuel to our body.

Track 7: Sports Food and Energy Drinks

Sports Drinks or Energy Drinks are advertised as fluids, electrolyte and calories for the use before, during and after exercise. Providing fluids and calories is their dominant purpose. Most sports drinks contain approximately 6% centralization of carbohydrates. This points out the fact that most sports drinks contains 100 to 125 calories per pint.

The only electrolyte that has persistently been shown to be important to athletes is only sodium and only during excessive workout when more than several quarters of fluid have been lost.

Track 8: Nutrient requirement & Analytical studies

A diet should be superlative in both quality and quantity of food, in order to restock the energy reserves and avoid lethargy or inappropriate nutrition. A valuable diet will help the body operate at its best. Carbohydrates are the best energy source to provide power for the functioning of muscles. Eating sufficient carbohydrate before, during and post exercise helps to maintain energy levels, delay weariness during exercise and reinforce a more rapid recovery. With carbohydrate as the main energizing source, you can maintain your activity for a longer period. Carbohydrate foods or "carbs" should make up for more than half your total energy intake. If you are involved in excessive daily exercise, your carbohydrate requirement for the body will be even higher and you should make sure you eat sufficient carbohydrate to meet your increased daily requisite.

For every Kg of body weight 1.3 calories of energy is required every hour. (An athlete weighting 50 Kg would require 1.3 x 24 hours x 50 Kg = 1560 calories/day). For each hour of training a person requires 8.5 calories of energy for each Kg of body weight. (For a two hour training session a 50 Kg athlete would require 8.5 x 2hrs x 50 Kg = 850 calories). An athlete weighting 50Kg who trains for two hours would require an intake of approximately 2410 calories (1560 + 850).

Track 9: Eating Disorders in Athletes

Engrossment in organized sports can offer many benefits, such as enhanced self-esteem and body image, and inspiration for a human to remain active throughout their lives.  Athletic competition, however, can also be a reason contributing to immense psychological and physical stress. When the pressures of athletic competition are added to an existing cultural emphasis on slimness, the risks multiplies for athletes to develop disordered eating. In a study of NCAA athletes, more than 33% of female athletes reported attitudes and indications placing them at risk for anorexia nervosa. Even if most athletes with eating disorders are female, male athletes are also equally at risk—especially those grappling in sports this tend to place an emphasis on an athlete’s diet, presentation, size, and weight requirements, such as wrestling, running, crew, and bodybuilding.

Track 10: Age & Gender Specific Nutritional Needs

People need to modify their diet in their 50s, 60s, and beyond! They need minor calories every decade. Their mobility reduces, they have less muscle locomotion, and their metabolic rate also goes down. The challenge while overall reduced eating is to eat more nutrient-rich foods, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, fish, low-fat dairy products, beans, and lean cuts of meat.

As they age, their immune activity reduces and hence their body needs the same amount of protein, vitamins, and minerals and, in some instances, even more nutrients.

Track 11: Sports Nutrition Epidemiology

Nutritional epidemiology is approximately new field of medical research that studies the interconnection between nutrition and health. Diet and exercise are difficult to measure accurately, which partly explains why nutrition has received lesser attention than most other risk factors for disease in epidemiology.

Nutritional epidemiology is one of the young disciplines in epidemiology. This may be moderately due to the problems in measuring diet as an exposure. Diet and Exercise are defensibly the most difficult exposures to assess in observational research and are afflicted by considerable measurement error. Hence we are all bared, and the variation may be more subtle than with other, more noticeable exposures such as smoking or use of hormone replacement therapy.

Track 12: Sports Rehabilitation and Medicine

The Rehabilitation and Resume to play is the process of concluding when an injured or ill player or Athlete may safely return to habitude or Sports. The main aim is to bring back an injured player to training or game without putting the individual at undue risk of injury or illness. This process is criteria driven and not time driven. Athletes must accomplish certain bars of physical ability and criteria, before they can pace up through the stages. They will be treated in accordance with the various phase of the injury process you are in at the time of coming to clinic.

Track 13: Physical and Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy tends to bring into light evaluation and improvement in a person’s functional abilities. An occupational therapist most often does not directly treat a person’s injury using medical techniques such as manual therapy or acupuncture therapy but usually helps a person in amending their independence and their capability to fulfil their daily activities following the situations of physical impairment. Occupational therapists often will directly treat injuries, but most often occupational therapy centres more on enhancing life skills and incorporating adaptive tools at times customized by the therapist. In some sections of the world occupational therapists bring in use practices such as use of ultrasound in injury rehabilitation, much like a physical therapist does.

The physical therapy profession (also known by the name ‘physiotherapy’ in many parts of the world) intends to be more focused on guesstimating and analysing movement dysfunctions as well as treating a person’s injury itself. While an occupational therapist will often do diagnosis, the physical therapist are more likely to diagnose and treat the physical source of the problem.

Both physical and occupational therapists are qualified extensively in anatomy and the musculoskeletal system as a result both are very knowledgeable about musculoskeletal injuries and rehabilitation than a practitioner medical doctor.

Track 14: Joint Specific Injuries and Sports Nutrition

When injured, athletes face the battle of rehabilitation in the gym and physio room, however what they also choose to eat plays a vital role in their recovery. Whilst appropriate nutrition won’t cut rehabilitation from weeks to days, if used effectively it can ensure that the healing process is optimal and can help athletes make a strong return.

Some arthritic conditions, tendonitis and joint injuries may benefit from a glucosamine sulphate supplement. This is a vital component used in the formation of the connective tissues around joints; cartilage, tendons and ligaments. Adding an appropriate source during recovery from such conditions or even during hard training could help reduce joint pain and maintain flexibility of the joint.

Track 15: Pathophysiology of musculoskeletal injuries

Skeletal muscle injuries are a common occurrence, especially during sporting activities. For example, hamstring strains accounted for 21% of injuries reported during two seasons of professional English football. The most common injuries reported in rugby league are also musculotendinous injuries to the lower limbs with hamstring and groin injuries making up 8.0–19.7% of all reported injuries. An understanding of the pathophysiology of muscle injury and repair is essential in order to provide the optimum treatment interventions and to limit injury or re-injury to a muscle. Reducing the risk of reinjury is an essential component of the rehabilitative process, as musculoskeletal injuries such as hamstring strains are compounded by a high recurrence rate of 12–31% with approximately 1 in 13 athletes re-injuring within the first year of return to sport.

Track 17: Sports Nutrition and Dentistry/ Oral Health

When you eat a balanced diet and drink enough water, your body will produce energy efficiently for growth and activity including sports. Eating a balanced diet is key to sports nutrition. The right combination of fuel (calories) from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats gives you energy for top performance. Replenishing fluids lost to sweat is the primary concern during an athletic event. Sports drinks are designed for use during non-stop exercise that lasts for more than 60 to 90 minutes. They generally contain water, some form of sugar, flavoring, coloring, and a dash of salt. There is no need for young athletes or most anyone, for that matter, to consume sports drinks other than during exercise.

Track 18: Ayurveda and Sports Nutrition

Ayurveda, the 5000-year-old medical system of India, states that poor nutrition is the main cause of disease. Ayurveda is also called the ‘science of longevity’ because it offers a complete system to live a long healthy life without medication. It offers programs to rejuvenate the body through diet and nutrition. It offers treatment methods to cure many common diseases such as food allergies, which have few modern treatments.

Sports Nutrition is not described as such, neither in ancient nor in modern nutrition. It is the application of various medical principles to the sports activities, physical exercise and performance endeavours. It is related to the physiological as well as patho-physiological aspects of sports and athletics injuries. It is not only prevention and treatment of injuries, but it is a scientific investigation of training methods and practices in sports also. Ayurveda offers comprehensive approach to the science of life and health care. Ayurveda can also fulfill the need of Sports Nutrition up to certain extent. There is a lot of knowledge available to practice different treatment modalities for injuries, uses of drugs & dietetics as well as practices of rehabilitation.

Track 19: Athletic Training and Fitness Management

AthleticTraining and fitness management is a broad field that includes a wide range of job titles. Depending on their specific interests, professionals in this field can do anything from managing professional sports teams to running a local gym. Workers in this industry can practice in a variety of settings. Personal fitness trainers and sports coaches may sometimes work with clients outdoors, assisting them in performing exercise moves or developing their skills in a specific sport. Those involved in the business side of the field, including sports agents and fitness centre directors, may spend most of their time in an office setting planning programs, working on budgets and reviewing contracts.

Track 20: Macro and Micronutrients for Athletes

There are three essential macronutrients that people are probably already somewhat familiar with, at least by name. These macronutrients are Carbohydrate, Protein, and Fat and they all serve different but essential purposes and Sportsmen need to make sure they consume the right amount of each in their diet. Almost everything you eat will contain a combination of the three macronutrients

Carbohydrates: Carbohydrates are the most commonly maligned macronutrient when it comes to weight loss. While your body can do without Carbohydrates in your diet, you need them for your body to function at an optimal level and there is no need to remove them from your diet to successfully lose weight. There is nothing inherent about Carbohydrates that will make you gain or lose weight

Protein: Protein helps repair and maintain body tissues that naturally break down in daily life-style. Studies have shown that high-protein diets are better for fat loss and building muscle mass and help in making you feel fuller for longer. In fact you can expect these positive side-effects of a high Protein diet even while maintaining your Carbohydrate and Fat intake – which should come as no surprise to you by now. Fortunately, most adults in the United States get enough protein to meet their daily needs.

Fats: Much like Carbohydrates; Fat is a misunderstood macronutrient. Many people incorrectly believe that eating fat will make you fat, which is simply not true. The only thing that will make you fat is consuming more calories than you burn. Fat is not only essential for growth and development but Fat have been scientifically proven to help your body better absorb nutrients and vitamins from foods you eat. Fat also makes food taste better and makes you feel fuller for longer.

Whether you exercise to keep fit, participate regularly in an organised sporting activity, or are training to reach the peak level of your sport, good nutrition is an essential tool to help you perform at your best. Making smart choices about the type, timing and quantity of food to eat can all play a role in realising your best. Eating well is specific to you and your individual nutritional needs, as well as your training and competition schedule.

Sports nutrition is a science that requires a solid understanding of the nutritional factors effecting performance, recovery and health, a knowledge of the nutritional value of food and fluids, and the necessary skills to implement appropriate nutritional strategies into daily training and competition. A key priority for athletes is to establish a well-chosen training diet that can be easily manipulated when special situations emerge (for example, changes to training load, changing body composition goals, or special competition needs). A good base diet will provide adequate nutrients and energy to enhance adaptations from training, support optimal recovery and avoid excessive food-related stress. Heavy training increases the need for nutrients, particularly carbohydrate, protein and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals).

Sports Nutrition 2016 will focus on spreading the knowledge about the required combination of physical activity and sports supplements in required proportion, carbohydrate loading, protein synthesis and many more.

Why to attend?

Whether you are a professional, Athlete or a weekend warrior, nutrition is fundamental for Athletic performance. Right diet will optimize your energy levels and help your body recover more rapidly. Enough energy is required to meet the demand of training and enable proper recovery between exercise sessions. Scope and Importance of Sports Nutrition and Supplements

Whether it is a professional athlete or a weekend warrior, nutrition is fundamental for optimal performance. The right diet will optimise energy levels and help body recover more effectively. Body should be provided with enough energy (kilojoules) to meet the demands of training and enable proper recovery between exercise sessions. Training or competition generally increases daily energy requirements depending on duration, type and intensity of the activity.

Sports Nutrition is a science that deals with the understanding of the nutritional factors effecting performance, recovery and health, an acquaintance with the nutritional value of food and fluids, and the necessary skills to implement appropriate nutritional strategies into daily training and competition.

Sports Nutrition 2016 tries to bring together Researchers, Academicians and Students to share their ideas, research experiences and wisdom. The session would highlight the topics like Apophysitis, Effusion, Fasciotomy, Hemarthrosis and many more.

Why Philadelphia, USA?

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been home to many teams and events in professional, semi-professional, amateur, college, and high-school sports. Philadelphia is one of twelve cities that hosts teams in all four major sports leagues in North America, and Philadelphia is one of just three cities in which one team from every league plays within city limits. These major sports teams are the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball, the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association and the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League. With so much enthusiasm in the city for sports at every level, there also emerges a growing demand for sports products like sports drinks, supplements, sports bars, and even a demand for related services like sports counselling.

Understanding the critical importance of nutrition for sporting activity and peak performance, Conference series LLC steps ahead to organize an International Conference and Exhibition on Sports Nutrition with an intention to provide a strong platform for researchers and industrial delegates to conflate, cogitate and present newer ideas for future collaborations.
